What is the effect of putting on the mind of Christ ?
In prayer the individual will reveal the characteristics of having been appropriated by the Holy Spirit as in Galatians 5:22
Paul described it as: "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me".
One now loves in the way of God, follows his will, and lives for truth, wisdom, goodness, compassion and love for the sake of bringing these attitudes to other people, all beings and the universe.
Prayer and Contemplation is not about my pre-occupations and expectations for myself, my own ego or personal self.
In all things, Jesus did not think about himself, or pray for his own needs- real prayer is intercessory, other people, other things, the earth and the universe.
One does not contemplate for what I personally, me, myself, I can get out of it, but for the sake of other people, other living things, the planet and the universe.
This is what is meant by: one has put on the Mind of Christ, that no longer I, but he lives inside, as me, as my real Self. That I live by his will, his pre-occupations and expectations, not my own personal, egocentric ones. That is what Paul discovered, that is the meaning of Paul's Christ-centered life and mysticism: that he now has the values, attitudes, worldview and the mindset of Christ.
What is the mindset, the will, the intentions of Jesus ?
They are those of the Father, Yahweh, Elohim, the I AM, that was never born, the unchanging, the undying.
